Jesus told me to see beyond my eyesTo see beyond the darkness and Pans' lies
But my faith wavers as I ride on waves in the ocean deep
I find myself with no hope like walking on an old tightrope
"If deep cries unto deep, where is the peace to sleep?" I wonder
Water falls and streams down my face for I have nowhere to land my feet, I feel like wheat under Pan's feet and a safe end to this journey is hard to believe
I look into my mirror wanting to die as the facts stare back at me: I'm alone, far from home caught in a storm, far from the norm; perhaps in death I will be free
The Lord:
Daughter,
Who told you that you were alone?
Did I not tell you that you could call with or without a phone?
You have a direct line to speak honestly and freely
You just need to call me but first hear me
Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who shut up the sea behind doors,
When it burst forth from the womb?
When I made the clouds its garment
And wrapped it in thick darkness,
When I fixed limits for it
And set its doors and bars in place,
When I said, ‘This far you may come and no farther;
Here is where your proud waves halt?
Esther:
Lord, I don't know how when or where you did all this.
The Lord:
So why do you pull apart from me, turn from me and doubt me?
Why are you so tearful, fearful, frightened, proud and conceited in your heart?
Why do you think that you can refuse to listen to me thinking that you know better than me?
Why do you think that you can live your life and finish the race without me the prince of wisdom when it was I who gave you your start?
You know through my repetition of me that it is all about me for I am the centre as you row across the equator; it’s not about you
So humble yourself, brace yourself, abandon yourself, die to yourself and do what I told you to do
Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea,
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Esther:
Yes, but I was too scared to leave my place of comfort and familiar surroundings
though I hated them and I knew that my hope was in you
I allowed fear to prevent me from doing what you told me to
I admit that I do not know more than you;my knowledge is incomplete without you.
The Lord:
Then why do you not trust me and believe I will be there for you wherever my Spirit leads you
And accept that I will even be there to catch if you should stumble and fall
I was there for Peter and all those who placed their eyes on me and they began to see clearly
Since it was I who laid the foundations of the earth and made the sands of time
Why can’t you understand that I am eternal and I have gone down into valleys low and mountains high before you?
And I will meet you wherever I send you so next time why don’t you just simply do what I tell you to?
